E-commerce incubator Rocket Internet’s online companies will now be able to offer international payment acceptance, acquiring and payment with the appropriate fraud prevention solutions thanks to a new cooperation agreement with Wirecard AG.
Wirecard AG is an independent provider of outsourcing and white label solutions for electronic payment transactions
The Wirecard Bank holds a full German banking licence, and the agreement includes access to their banking services.
“We aim to become the world’s largest Internet platform outside the United States and China,” said Oliver Samwer, founder and CEO of Rocket Internet. “In order to achieve this, we need reliable and responsive partners who share the same drive and global approach as we do. That is why Wirecard is the perfect match for us as they react quickly to our needs and provide fast mobile and online-based payment solutions for the different markets we operate in.”
Rocket is one of the world’s largest e-commerce focused VC firms. The company identifies and builds proven internet business models and transfers them to new, under-served or untapped markets where it scales them into market leading online companies, focusing on three sectors – e-commerce, marketplaces and financial technology.
Helpling, the Rocket-backet cleaners on demand service, has raised $17 million in fresh funding, it was announced this week.
