Cale, the unattended parking payment technology company, will begin offering secure contactless readers that accept Apple Pay for its pay stations in July.
The near field proximity (NFC) technology is being showcased at this week’s International Parking Institute’s annual convention and trade show in Las Vegas.
The contactless reader will allow Apple Pay users to pay for parking with their iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus or Apple Watch.
“This is a natural progression based on our dedication to offer innovative and secure means for payment making parking easier,” said Anton Kaya, CEO for Cale Group.
Alongside Apple Pay, the new contactless reader will accept any NFC mobile wallets and will also help the company’s customers be ready for the upcoming liability shift that will see card-issuing banks in the US adopt more secure EMV technology and move away from the current magnetic stripe card.
“With the sudden popularity of mobile wallets like Apple Pay and upcoming migration to EMV standards for physical cards, consumers can now drive preferred and convenient payment choices using their mobile devices and know that their transactions are fully secure,” said Andreas Jansson, managing director for Cale’s largest subsidiary,Cale America.
