
Antonio Simoes has been appointed CEO of HSBC Bank plc and Chief Executive of Europe, with the former Goldman Sachs associate officially starting his role on September 1st.
Simoes has been working within the banking industry since 1997, firstly as a business analyst for management consultancy firm McKinsey and Company.
In 2007 Simoes joined HSBC, leading the banks group strategy and merger and acquisition activities.
In 2012 Simoes was promoted to head of retail banking and wealth management for Europe. Simoes was swiftly promoted again, as in November of the same year he became chief executive of the UK Bank and deputy chief executive, HSBC Bank plc.
Simoes succeeds Alan Keir as HSBC Bank CEO, who will step down as chief executive on 30th September. Kier will officially retire from HSBC 31 March 2016, after a 34-year career at HSBC.
