Lloyds is planning to start running training programmes that aim to equip the bank’s employees with the skills to work on digital innovation.
Bespoke digital course
The bank has formed a partnership with the global educational institution General Assembly to create a bespoke Digital Foundations course as part of the bank’s Digital Academy.
General Assembly’s Digital Foundations is an online learning platform that helps companies elucidate their staff about digital concepts and tactics in their teams.
The bank will now have access to 22 modules designed to enhance their digital knowledge and embed digitally focused thinking into everyday planning and development. They feature real-life examples and case-studies explore topics such as mobile apps, digital marketing and data analytics and what impact they can have on an improved customer experience.
£1 billion shift to digital
The digital training programme is part of Lloyds’ £1 billion investment in digital banking, which has also included building an in-house Digital Academy.
Susana Berlevy, Digital human resources director, Lloyds Banking Group, said: “The Digital Foundation course is just one way in which we’re providing colleagues with knowledge for a successful career in an increasingly digital organisation.”
She said that the course will train Lloyds staff to seek out the latest technologies, move quickly and develop new and innovative ways of servicing our customers.
All eyes on digital
Much of recent data seems to indicate that banks are quickly re-shifting their gaze to digital channels, primarily to drive down operational costs, but also to cater to people’s changing behaviours and demands.
It is not a coincidence that the rate of physical branch closures is picking up speed at a time when a quarter of European consumers actively use bank on their mobile phones.
