Esselunga chooses Satispay for a revolution of shopping payments

  • The agreement represents the most important integration of a mobile payment system in the Italian large scale retail sector;
  • All 154 Esselunga stores will be involved by the end of the Summer;
  • The smartphone (of any brand and operating system) speaks directly with the till and the self-service terminals and the purchases are also made by leaving home cash and wallet. 

 Esselunga chooses Satispay and, based on the agreement signed, the innovative payment platform will be integrated in the payment system of the large- scale retail sector leader. Starting from Monday 26 of June it will be active in the first two stores in Segrate and Milan, in via Losanna, followed by the other stores with a roll-out plan that will provide coverage by the end of the Summer for all 154 Superstores and Supermarkets in Lombardy, Tuscany, Emilia Romagna, Piedmont, Veneto, Liguria and Lazio.

After being the first in Italy to introduce the bar code reader in 1980, Esselunga, in the year of its sixtieth anniversary, continues to reiterate its identity as an innovative operator. Thanks to this agreement, it will allow customers to pay for their shopping with the smartphone in an easy, fast and secure way, without the use of cash or credit cards even in large-scale distribution.

Technically, Satispay has integrated its system directly into the Esselunga tills, which allows payment management with the utmost simplicity and precision, both for cashiers and customers.

In fact, Esselunga customers will be able to pay at the tills and / or self-service stations via the  Satispay app installed on their smartphone by selecting the store where they are located (which, thanks to the geolocation of the app at its opening, will appear as the first of the list) by typing the amount of the bill and, with a single touch, sending the payment that – even in the presence of a multi-location configuration like that of a supermarket – will automatically be recognized from the till where the customer is and accepted.
